GingerFred Dance Studio was brought to life by dance professional Louise Barrett in 2013.  

The initial set up of the studio was funded by the Arts Council England and Creative Industries, Somerset County Council.

The studio is situated in the heart of Langport, Somerset and is a sole - purpose, creatively focused studio offering high quality dance and theatre classes all year round.

 

The studio now includes a fitness room to enable participants, dance professionals and the wider community to engage in not only dance classes but also the essential elements of cardio and body conditioning such a suite can provide.

 

Louise is a professional dance and theatre director and has spent over 18 years in the performing arts industry as a teacher, choreographer and performer. Louise has a First Class dance degree from Bretton Hall, a diploma in choreography from London Contemporary Dance School and a teaching certificate. In 2003, Louise founded the professional touring dance company Pretty Good Girl Dance Theatre.

 

Following 3 successful performances at the Place’s Resolution! Festival, London she has since written, choreographed and performed in 5 full-length dance theatre productions for national and rural touring.

 

Louise has also carved out an accomplished education and choreography career across the region creating new work with adults, youth and professional theatre companies. Louise was lecturer in dance and theatre at Yeovil college, head of dance

at Prior Park College, Bath and education officer for Pegasus Theatre, Oxford.

 

Louise is also teacher of dance for The Levels Academy Trust - visiting Huish Episcopi primary school weekly during term time.
